Get dirty this summer on the Blandford Farm!

Blandford Nature Center & Mixed Greens

Blandford Nature Center & Mixed Greens now has a fully operational and educational farm led by a group of seven inner-city youth coming from diverse backgrounds. The mission of the farm is to empower youth in becoming leaders and role models in their communities while creating both personal and social change.

Volunteer projects on the Farm are available all summer (through August 30th) at Blandford Nature Center & Mixed Greens. Work with the Youth Farm Team on prepping, planting, and harvesting. Projects occur every Saturday, 9am-noon (opportunities may also be available during the week as needed).

To sign up, please contact Laura Worth, Volunteer Support VISTA, at (616) 735-6240 ext. 11 or lworth@blandfordnaturecenter.org. For more information about Blandford Nature Center & Mixed Greens, visit www.blandfordnaturecenter.org, or call (616) 735-6240.

About Heart of West Michigan United Way’s Volunteer Center

Heart of West Michigan United Way’s Volunteer Center is committed to linking volunteer groups with opportunities to serve the community, empowering agencies to use volunteers effectively and advocating for volunteerism resulting in an increased number of volunteers involved in the community. Our goal is to generate resources to build a stronger community and improve lives.

What is Volunteer Solutions?

Volunteer Solutions is a free online matching system for volunteers, nonprofit organizations and opportunities throughout Kent County. There’s something to match everyone’s interests and talents. Volunteer Solutions makes it easy for individuals, students, families and employees to link with opportunities for service.

How can I use Volunteer Solutions?

Feel free to browse Volunteer Solutions or register for free and enjoy the benefits of membership! As a registered volunteer, you can create a profile and browse opportunities in your areas of interest. You can contact the agency directly when you find something you like, and you can even have opportunities e-mailed to you when a new opportunity is posted that matches your interests.

Attention non-profit organizations!

As a non-profit organization, you can post all of your volunteer needs – including one-time and ongoing opportunities – for free! You can include information about your agency, the services you provide to our community, your mission, a logo, contacts for each opportunity and even directions.

Recruit volunteers and post opportunities through United Way’s Volunteer Solutions.

More Information and Corporate Volunteer Opportunities

You can also call United Way’s 2-1-1 or 459-2255 if you’d like additional information about individual volunteer opportunities. If you are a company seeking group volunteer opportunities, please call 752-8603.
